Back to the Future Redesign

The goal of this project was to see how much I could do in a week for a brief based upon Back to the Future, the brief I was given was to redesign a scene from the films, I came up with a few ideas initially but I knew that all of them would need a version of the DeLorean.

Because all of my ideas required a DeLorean I started by making a model of the DeLorean, with the time limit I had, it was not going to be easy to make a full model and create the scene render at the end.
So using a couple of different models I found online, I quickly put together a rigged version of the car with an interior, having to model several parts myself and modify the original models quite extensively.

I also made the model able to be quickly swapped out between all the variants in the original films.

For the scene I decided to go with an alternative version of the 2015 hill valley that they go to in the second film, where the whole valley had been flooded, so instead of flying cars they use submersibles instead necessitating the DeLorean having a submarine mode created.

To give a reason for this happening I created this alternative version of the save the clocktower leaflet that is handed out in the first film, where you can see that the Hill Valley Dam is on the verge of collapse.

I then scattered them in the final render as if they had been disturbed by the wake of the DeLorean passing through.
